Chewing for Dental hygiene
Chewing is a naturally relaxing behaviour

Chewing is a natural behaviour for dogs of all ages. Not only is it good for dental hygiene but it can also calm and relax your dog.

When it comes to ‘legal’ chew items it could be easy to be confused with a huge range of products on the market…Here’s a few of our favourite long lasting chew items, specifically geared towards helping with dental hygiene and removing plaque.

Where as Dentastix are advertised as good for helping your dog’s teeth they do contain a lot of not very useful calories and healthier alternatives are available. A good starting point that is suitable for all breeds and age of dog are dried fish skins. These treats are naturally low in calories and have a rough texture which will help remove tartar.

More aggressive chewers may be more suited to a buffalo horn, which can be stuffed with an extra tasty morsel to build interest.

Many of the ears like cow or rabbit will also help keep teeth and gums clean and healthy and the rabbit ears in particular are low in odour if you’re an owner that’s not so keen on some of the more smelly treats.

If you’re not sure about what to go for you could always let us put a selection together for you based and you and your dog’s needs and likes https://jayk9.co.uk/product/chew-selection-pack/
